Job Description
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Director, Global Project Management, for our Edison, New Jersey location. This position collaborates with the project teams, so-called Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), Regional Project Teams (RPTs), Integrated Strategy Teams (ISTs), and Operational Project Teams (OPTs), and line research and development organizations to develop and implement strategies for development compounds; proactively anticipates potential risks and issues, challenges assumptions, identifies contingencies or opportunities to circumvent potential delays, and contributes to quick and appropriate decision-making as a project manager; coordinates and/or prepares key project teams' deliverables including senior management presentations and reports, Product Development Plan (PDP), Monthly Project Summary (MPS), tracking reports, project timelines, and meeting agendas and minutes on a routine basis; collaborates with and mentors as necessary other GPM&L staffing (e.g., Project Management Coordinators) to conduct project related planning and management tasks; and in collaboration with line functions reviews and confirms integrated cross-functional budgets and resource Requirements for development programs.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will with the Integrated Team Leader (ITL), drive creation of the PDP (development strategy and plan for a particular project); manage implementation of the operational plan that underpins the development strategy; and facilitate proactive issue identification and resolution in cooperation with project team members and line management.
Additionally, you will in collaboration with the Project Management Coordinator, create the Project Plan (schedule, budget and resource plan) with project team members' input based on the development strategy, plan and priority; participate in departmental initiatives, i.e., development documentation template development, development team process development and optimization, IT solution identification and implementation, and identification and sharing of best practice; and mentor and develop staff other GPM&L staff
Education/Experience
Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree preferred or other advanced degree (i.e., MS or MBA) with additional relevant experience.
Minimum of 10 years experience in an R&D function within a biotech or pharmaceutical company with 5 years of pharmaceutical research and development project management experience, and an understanding of drug commercialization and marketing.
Demonstrated experience motivating and leading project teams to completing all activities associated with managing product candidates through all stages of development and registration including submission of at least one major NDA/MAA or major supplemental regulatory submission. This includes coordinating integrated drug development plans, project team meeting minutes, and project schedules.
Strong communication, negotiation, and computer skills. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Management software applications. PMI or similar certification is a plus. Must be willing to travel 25% of the time.
